Sustainability Plan

Introduction
Being fully aware of our social and environmental footprint on our world and the
immense responsibility that manufacturers and consumers share in the future of
our land.
The Plan addresses how we will increase the size of our business while
simultaneously reducing our environmental impact and increasing our positive
social impact by outlining three main goals for us to achieve by 2022:
1. Help all employees internal and externally improve their health and
well-being.
2. Reduce the environmental footprint of our products by 50%.
3. Source 100% of our water based raw materials sustainably.

Focus priority areas
We have identified four priority areas
where we can make the most impact in our
country. These are:
1. Reducing use of solvents by our customers.
2. Reducing our packaging footprint.
3. Sustainable sourcing of our water based raw materials.
4. Improving and ensuring a more healthy workforce and enhancing livelihoods
through job creation.
The plan accepts that we have a responsibility across
the full lifecycle of our products from the sourcing of
raw materials all the way through to the impact of our
factories, offices, transport and to the use of our products
at our customers operations.

Waste Management
All waste is separated into Paper, Plastics and Metals, which are sent for recycling to
approved suppliers.
Metal drums are collected or sent to Anchor Pail & Drum Reconditioners for
reconditioning.
Waste solvent is sent to (Emode Recyclers).
In terms of transport we encourage bulk deliveries so that
vehicle movement can be minimized thereby reducing
emissions. This is also practiced when ordering materials
from Suppliers.

Eco-friendly
Unistar is committed to actively following a path of offering greener alternatives for
its customers. Part of how we achieve this is by utilising bio-derived renewable raw materials, minimising volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and
hazardous air pollutants (HAPs), eliminating raw materials that contain toxic, heavy
materials or known carcinogens, and making sure that our inks do not impede recycling
or biodegradation of the finished packaging.
In recognition of our obligation to maintain an eco-friendly environment and our
planet’s long term sustainability, we have incorporated an environmental policy
which encompasses many factors that puts our environment first.
